Home Company
We work across three broad categories:
The Architectural division manufactures and installs balustrading, handrails, louvers, custom gates & fencing, bollards, kitchen benchwork and a variety of other miscellaneous customised metalwork.
During project execution, our project management group and technical specialists work closely with builders and architects to advise and resolve issues around constructability. They have the experience to offer alternative solutions to achieve the desired project outcome.
Star Metal’s greatest asset is the quality of our people, and we continue to invest in their safety and training. Our family-owned business has been building capacity and capabilities since we commenced operations in 2004, including moving to new premises in 2009 to cater for our growing business. We have a passion for quality and a reputation for consistently delivering high-quality outcomes for our customers. To do this requires highly skilled individuals and specialists to manage complex large-scale projects. Our team of project managers, draftspeople and fabricators understand how important it is to get the job done right the first time, on time.
Star Metal has the depth of project experience on diverse projects with which to help you:
Our site teams have extensive site experience, working across a diverse range of metalworks packages. We understand how to make things work and are skilled at finding out-of-the-box solutions – and often help bridge the gap between what our customer wants, and the practical and cost realities of a project. With a clear scope defined, our project manager then works closely with our inhouse drafting team to create the drawings for approval, ensuring compliance with all Australian and other relevant standards is met.
We have invested in ISO9001 certification to underpin our commitment to delivering high-quality products consistently to our customers. The certification strengthened our processes and ensures that projects leave our workshop fabricated to the highest quality.
Our capabilities and skills across architectural metalwork, industrial fabrication and perforated sheet metal means we have capacity to work across a broad spectrum of fabrication projects. We are a ONE-STOP-SHOP. Our strong internal processes, supported by our sound management systems ensure projects are well managed through design, drafting, fabricating and site installation.
With extensive and diverse fabrication qualifications and hands-on experience – in our field of expertise, there is nothing we can’t do.
Star Metal provides a one stop solution from concept to installation.
Delivering to a high standard requires great people, the right technology, and an innovative mindset.
At Star Metal we are always looking for ways to do things differently. It is the reason we have a longstanding and loyal customer base. Just because we have worked with companies for many years does not mean that our engagement with them or our offerings have stayed the same over that time. As our use of technology has changed, we have continually communicated with our customers about what else we can add to our service delivery.
Our team is in regular contact with a wide network of suppliers and service providers, not only nationally but around the world. This ensures we keep abreast of the best products and services, as well as latest machinery and technology, to ensure we continue to deliver the highest quality outcome to our customers.
We believe in building our industry and adding to the pool of skilled tradespeople in WA, we will continue to support apprentices and we employ new recruits annually.
Star Metal’s objective is to promote from within. For many years we have offered Traineeships for those who have demonstrated the capability and interest in moving to a different or more senior roles. This has helped us attract and retain great people and as a result our turnover of staff is low. Several of our key people have made their start with us through apprenticeships.
We maintain ongoing relationships with relevant TAFE colleges to assist us recruiting apprenticeship positions. We also work with local high schools to offer pre-apprenticeship training and work experience.
If you would like to apply for an apprenticeship or would like more information please contact us.
Star Metal has always recognised the need to stay on top of current trends and technology affecting our business and will continually look to advances to ensure our customers are at the cutting edge of innovation in metalwork technology.
We use advanced sheet perforating software, among other things, enabling conversion of images to perforated patterns. This we have applied to a wide range of commercial façade applications
We continually upgrade our workshop equipment and utlilise state-of-the-art sheet metal processing machinery. All our machinery are networked CNC machines, which means the 3D models created during the design/drafting stage flow through our production process ensuring final product exactly matches the original design.
As part of our commitment to continually upgrading our technology – in July 2020, Star Metal commissioned another press brake – a Japanese made Muratec, 135 tonne capacity press brake with, 3 metre folding length. This networked press brake enables simulated onscreen bending, ensuring elimination of remakes, and more efficient folding. Delivering for our customers a quicker fabrication time and as a result – reduced cost.
The cornerstone of Star Metal’s sheet metal processing technology is the Amada EMZ3610, 52station, CNC turret punch. This piece of equipment provides unparalleled capacity and capability! Some of the features include:
Sheet metal rolling– We have a 3-metre sheet roller used exclusively for aluminium and stainless steel to prevent ferrous contamination. This provides a unique in-house capability, further underpinning our ability to undertake all aspects of fabrication under one roof.
We are committed to the health and safety of our people and continue to invest in their ongoing professional development and safety training.
We are ISO9001 certified, our quality management system underpins our operational processes and provides the basis for ensuring that safety practices and processes are embedded throughout all our operational processes.
Our operational targets are for zero injuries. Since commencement of Star Metal in 2004 we have achieved an outstanding record over the long term.
Our expertise includes electrical switchboard cabinets, playground equipment components, a diverse architectural metalwork scope within commercial construction, sophisticated perforating capability, and general custom metalwork.
